This Could Be Your First Step To Greatness
Everyone has 24 hours in a day, so how is it that some go on to provide exponential value and become great? Here is the first step you might need to take:
ZERO HOURS TV a day.
Yes that means no Eastenders, no Big Brother, no Pop Idol, no Dancing on Ice.
YOU WILL SURVIVE.
YOU CAN DO THIS.
I’ve survived for more years than I can remember with zero hours TV. From 2002 to 2008 I had NO TV in the house. Then again from 2012 to 2014 in that time I brought two kids on my own without it, so the kids aren’t an excuse.
When I worked as a Cognitive Behaviourail Therapy Programmes Trainer for the National Probation Service, helping to rehabilitate substance abusers, one of the things I learnt was about identifying and removing triggers. These principles can be applied to all areas of our life.
When you’re trying to lose weight the easiest way to avoid unhealthy foods is by not having them in the house. Similarly when you have a TV in the the room where you relax the most you are more likely to channel surf and waste time. I’ve done it.
If TV is taking up a lot of your time. A simple step like identifying and removing your triggers to reduce your TV consumption can set you on the path to greatness
Become Great With This One Simple Step
Non of this will work until you’ve decided how much you value your life and what you want out of it. If you want happiness know that happiness is rooted in leading a purposeful life. Especially in the latter years of your life you will get the most satisfaction when you can look back knowing it was meaningful.
The ONLY time I will ALLOW for TV now is when I’m sat at the dining table eating, which I don’t often do. Even then it will only be a useful documentary related to my interests, or the news, whilst I eat 15 - 30 minutes.
Besides wasting time watching some of those meaningless garbage deemed as entertainment makes your life UTTERLY and totally meaningless. Time is our MOST valuable asset exchange it for other valuable entities. If you don’t have time for your health, (your second most valuable asset), if you don’t have time to learn and grow. You don’t have time to spend with your kids, playing as well as teaching them. Then you need to exchange at least one hour from your TV viewing a day, for one or all of those.
If you don’t watch a lot TV and can relate to this post give me a thumbs up (Like the post), because I was told by the ex I’m abnormal (Just before I caved in to her demands of getting a TV) and it’s kind of stuck. I occasionally feel it too because spend too much time watching.
